Debra Walker is adept at wearing many hats. In addition to Deb’s background as a strong results based consultant focused on healthy and engaged employee experiences, she has lived a life that has left an INDELIBLE imprint on her and is PASSIONATE about sharing those experiences with others..

Deb is both formally-educated and life-trained in observing and interpreting diverse cultures and is skilled in providing contexts for those observations.   Curiosity underpins each of her steps and paths in life. That innate quality has provided her a unique skillset in exploring global cultures and delving into both the similarities as well as the disparities amongst them.

She is particularly interested in writing about topics that lead to smart life choices – ones that will illustrate how we are all connected. Each choice we make has ripple effects – some of which are known to us and some of which we never appreciate.

Pursuing that curiosity has led to a lifetime of exploration. Starting first in life as a daughter of a forest ranger, she developed a firmly rooted appreciation of nature and the wonders that it holds for all. The gift that was her father’s job – moving from smaller center to smaller center – provided an intimate look at her home province in Alberta and helped her develop the ability to adjust and adapt quite quickly.

Building off those early years, it became a natural next important step to explore the vast diversity of her home country of Canada, living and working in 4 provinces and traveling the rest. Turning her eyes to beyond her home borders, she has traveled to South and Central America, USA, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. She is keen to get to all of the continents in this glorious lifetime, with Africa and Asia currently of particular appeal.

Having not just traveled to other geographic regions she has chosen to live in them for the reason of exploring below the surface – to discover the heart and the essence. (Aaahhh yes, the tales she can tell about life in Haiti.) After all, it is not just the journey that provides the richness but the stories that grow out of those journeys.

“Our moments of inspiration are not lost though we have no particular poem to show for them, for those experiences have left an indelible impression, and we are ever and anon reminded of them.”– Henry David Thoreau
